and more land to settle on. As you can imagine the
colonists were not happy when the Quartering Act
was put in place by the English government.
After a while the Quartering Act along with other
acts the colonists began to get irritated and the
friction between England and the colonists erupted
into what is now known as the Revolutionary War.
The Quartering act made the people in North America house, feed ,and supply British troops, when the troops came to people houses the people hadto allow them in and house them feed them and supply for them. If the people said that the troops were not able to stay in their house then they would get in trouble. Also the troops were allowed to go in to some ones house and look through their belongings if they thought that what they had was incriminating. This act was created so that the people would not forget that the English still hadpower over them and was watching them, also having troops in their quarters they were not allowed to get away with many things such a mutiny.
The Quartering Act was hated by the colonists
because believed that Britain was violating
their rights. The colonists felt that they had to workmore for people who they did not even know.
The colonists had to give up space in their home,
food and drink to the soldiers even though they
were barely getting by on their own. In response
to the Quartering Act colonists delayed repairs on
houses where soldiers were staying.
The British were drastically affected by the reaction
of the colonists.Since patriots in Boston tried to
organize ways to avoid and be against this act they
pressured owners and workmen to go slowly on
repairs on buildings that the authorities had
commandeered so that the British troops had
to camp out on the Boston Common for a
period of time, while repairs were still finishing.
